Winter weather makes every delivery more challenging — for our drivers and for your business. When parking lots, access paths, and propane storage cages are covered in snow or ice, it slows us down, increases safety risks, and can delay getting fresh cylinders to your forklifts, heaters, or construction equipment.
Mid-Atlantic Propane Exchange drivers are trained and equipped to handle winter conditions, but we need your help to make deliveries fast, safe, and on time.
Why Clearing Matters to Everyone
A clear, accessible site means:
- Our team can reach your cage quickly and safely
- Exchanges happen in minutes instead of struggling through snow
- No slips, falls, or equipment damage for drivers or your staff
- You get consistent, on-schedule service even during storms
- Less chance of rescheduling or emergency surcharges
We prioritize commercial customers and never shift focus to residential heating — but we can only be fast and safe when the path is clear.
Quick Checklist Before the Next Storm
1. **Clear the Propane Cage Area**
– Remove all snow and ice from around the cage (at least 4–5 ft clearance on all sides)
– Make sure doors open fully and latches are free of ice
– Elevate cylinders on pallets if snow is deep
2. **Clear the Delivery Path & Loading Zone**
– Plow or shovel a wide, straight path from the street to the cage
– Keep the area free of vehicles, pallets, trash cans, or equipment
– Salt or treat for traction — icy spots are a major hazard
3. **Maintain Parking Lot Access**
– Plow parking spaces and drive lanes so trucks can maneuver
– Keep fire lanes and emergency routes completely open
– Mark the cage location with cones or signs if snow is heavy
We’re Ready When Your Site Is
Our drivers will make every safe effort to reach you — even in tough conditions.
But if the lot or cage is inaccessible due to snow/ice, we may need to reschedule until it’s safe.
Clearing ahead saves everyone time, reduces risk, and keeps your propane supply steady.
