Cooler weather means fall festivals, backyard gatherings, fire pits, outdoor heaters — and plenty of yard cleanup! Before you fire things up, keep propane safety in mind.
At Mid-Atlantic Propane Exchange, we want every business, food vendor, and outdoor event operator to enjoy a safe and successful fall season.
Fall Festival Safety
- Keep propane cylinders upright and secured
- Inspect hoses, fittings, and connections before use
- Keep propane appliances away from tents, decorations, leaves, and other combustible materials
- Never use propane appliances indoors or in an enclosed tent
- Keep children away from propane cylinders and appliances
- Always follow the manufacturer’s operating instructions
Yard Cleanup Safety
- Keep propane cylinders away from piles of leaves, brush, and other debris
- Never burn leaves or yard waste near propane tanks or equipment
- Don’t store propane cylinders underneath piles of leaves or other materials
- Before using a propane heater, fire pit, or grill that has been sitting all summer, inspect it for damage, insects, nests, and debris
- Keep cylinders away from lawn equipment, vehicles, and areas where they could be struck or damaged
